BOP LEADERSHIP

Mr. Darren L. Henry
Managing Director

Darren Henry is the Director of the Dr. Cornell A. Bell Business Opportunity Program (BOP) at the Krannert School of Management on the West Lafayette campus of Purdue University. Darren is responsible for the recruitment, retention, and overall success of students within BOP through programming initiatives on campus, along with partnerships and relationships with educational institutions, alumni, corporations, and community representatives across the country.

Darren joined the Krannert School of Management in 2007 after completing his MBA from the School in the same year through the BOP program. He credits Dr. Cornell A. Bell, the everlasting father of the BOP program, for his future successes due to the opportunity he was granted by Dr. Bell to attend Krannert for his MBA. While in business school, Darren spent most of his time mentoring and serving undergraduate students in the BOP program. He developed strong bonds with the students after serving as their course instructor for MGMT 243, “Contemporary Thought of Minorities in Management,” for two years.

Prior to business school, he worked as a consultant for several years in the pharmaceutical industry. Using his participative and transformational leadership styles, Darren was able to advise clients such as BioPort (Lansing, MI), Schering Plough Products (Manatí, Puerto Rico), and Eli Lilly (Indianapolis, IN) on best practices for validation and qualification processes.

As a native and resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, Darren is extremely active within his community. He has been a member of the National Black MBA Association, volunteered to mentor and advise youth at his church, and sits on the committee for the Beautillion Militaire program within the 100 Black Men of Indianapolis.

In his spare time, Darren enjoys travelling, reading, and relaxing with his parents at their home. He is an undergraduate alumnus of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
